  • Finance Associate (PT)

    Advent Talent Group is seeking a part-time Finance Assistant to support day-to-day financial and accounting operations within a mission-driven nonprofit organization in Minneapolis, MN. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting or finance professional who values flexibility, accuracy, and contributing to meaningful community impact. With changes underway in the organization and the finance function, this role has the opportunity to take on additional responsibilities over time.

    Overview:
    Location: Minneapolis, MN (Hybrid)
    Pay Rate: $30–$33/hour
    Part-time: 20+ hours per week
    Position Type: Contract

    Responsibilities

    • Process accounts payable, including vendor invoices, expense reimbursements, credit cards, and vendor setup
    • Perform monthly reconciliations (bank, credit cards, general ledger accounts)
    • Support month-end close, including journal entries, schedules, and documentation
    • Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with nonprofit accounting standards
    • Assist with preparation of internal financial reports and audit support as needed
    • Coordinate with internal staff and external partners (vendors, auditors, finance consultants)
    • Support compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures
    • Provide general accounting and finance support as responsibilities evolve with the addition of a Controller
    • Assist with special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as assigned


    Qualifications

    • 4+ years of hands-on accounting or finance experience
    • Strong working knowledge of accounts payable, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting
    • High attention to detail with the ability to manage work independently and meet deadlines
    • Experience working in a nonprofit environment strongly preferred
    • Proficiency with accounting systems and Excel; comfort learning new tools
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
    • CPA or other accounting certifications are a plus
    • Flexible, adaptable mindset with comfort in a growing and changing organization

  • Transactional Accountant

    Advent Talent Group is seeking an Transactional Accountant is responsible for day‑to‑day accounts payable and accounts receivable operations for a local non-profit in St. Paul, MN. This role supports high‑volume transaction processing, vendor relations, employee reimbursements, and process improvements. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, adaptable, and eager to learn new systems and procedures in a collaborative, mission‑driven environment.

    Overview
    Location: St. Paul, MN (On‑site). This role involves regular interaction across multiple sites and occasional off‑site meetings or events. Local travel between locations is required; reliable transportation is necessary.
    Hourly Rate: $29–31/hour
    Contract

    Responsibilities

    • Process high‑volume accounts payable and receivable transactions accurately and on time
    • Manage vendor invoices, payments, setup, and W‑9 documentation
    • Code and process company credit card transactions and employee expense reimbursements
    • Maintain Bill.com workflows and ensure accurate payment coding
    • Support customer billing, deposits, and cash receipt entry
    • Maintain organized electronic and physical financial records
    • Assist with process improvements and annual 1099 reporting


    Qualifications

    • 1–2+ year of experience in AP, AR, bookkeeping, or accounting support
    • Experience with Bill.com, Excel, or other accounting software
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
    • Comfort with repetitive, high‑volume transactional work
    • Ability to learn new software and systems quickly
    • Strong organizational and communication skills
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • Grants Administration Specialist

    Advent Talent Group is seeking a full-time Grants Administration Specialist to support grantmaking operations within a mission-driven philanthropic organization in Minneapolis, MN.

    This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a background in grants administration, finance, or nonprofit operations who thrives in a collaborative environment and takes pride in accuracy, data integrity, and meaningful community work.

    Overview:
    Location: Minneapolis, MN (Hybrid)
    Pay Rate: $33/hour
    Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
    Position Type: Long-term contract (12 months)

    Responsibilities

    • Perform due diligence review of documentation provided by potential grantee organizations, applying knowledge of IRS and Minnesota charitable registration regulations
    • Process grant entries related to Donor Advised Funds, Employee Assistance Funds, and Corporate Matching Gift programs
    • Ensure timely and accurate processing of weekly Grant Transmittal Letters, including customized Signature Fund letters
    • Update and maintain records in the organization’s grantmaking system (Salesforce) to ensure data accuracy and compliance with organizational and IRS standards
    • Serve as backup and cross-train with the Grants Coordinator for grant entry and approval reporting
    • Provide technical support to donor advisors, grantee contacts, and committee members via phone and email
    • Coordinate with the Finance Team on reissuing returned or uncleared grant distribution checks
    • Print and mail weekly substantiation letters and quarterly Fund Statements
    • Support database migration and clean-up projects, including data entry and record updates
    • Enter and maintain fundholder and grantee contact information

    Qualifications

    • 3–5 years of experience in grants administration, finance/accounting, or a related field
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Salesforce or other CRM/database systems a plus
    • Strong internet research skills, including familiarity with online charity databases
    • High attention to detail with the ability to work independently and follow established procedures
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills for external grantee and donor interactions
