About the Job
The Photographer and Graphic Designer tells compelling, authentic and human-centered stories, using fresh and contemporary designs and photography and telling stories of marginalized communities in-line with the organization' s mission to bring greater equity to the Twin Cities community. Duties include:
Graphic Design (45%)
- Working with cross-functional teams to support the organization' s mission, developing original branded designs from ideation to execution across print, digital and social media, and presenting concepts to stakeholders
- Creating bold and original designs for various internal clients, providing creative recommendations in line with the organization' s brand
- Driving internal design, photo and video projects and campaign development, ensuring creative systems are accessible and producing new ideas that improve branding
Photography (35%)
- Curating and conducting photoshoots for use in design for social media, print and audiences
- Attending and photographic events, showing ability to do natural light photography for with diverse subjects
- Photo manipulation and editing, including optimizing lighting for People of Color
- Shoot video b-roll for projects led by the Digital Media Content Producer
- Managing creative file and ensuring internal accessibility
Other (20%)
- Monitoring projects and coordinating with vendors through all phases of production, supporting organizational diversity and inclusion efforts
- Maintaining knowledge of current trends and making relevant recommendations to key stakeholders
About You
This role is great for mission-focused candidates with a strong commitment to equity and a community orientation who thrive in collaborative and creative environments. Qualifications for this role include:
- 3-5 years of experience in both Graphic Design and Photography in an agency or in-house environment
- Bachelor' s degree in design or visual communications-related field
- Creative thinker, able to generate and champion new ideas that expand organizational branding and promote the mission
- A portfolio exhibiting fresh and contemporary designs and photography
- A contemporary, human-centered art style, particularly concerning diverse communities
- Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite and knowledge of color theory and design principles
- Fresh and creative graphic design skills, able to create compelling content for print, digital and social media
- Skills in natural light photography with diverse subjects
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with great organizational skills and problem solving abilities
- Excellent interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work in an integrated and collaborative environment, receiving feedback and direction and working with cross-functional teams
- Proven experience working with diverse individuals and a commitment to equity
- Understanding of current industry and creative trends and their application
